Celebrations are – quite literally – soaring to new heights. Whether it is a unique wedding in the sky, an extreme gender reveal, or conquering (dis)abilities or traumas, skydiving has become a place for people to not only check off a bucket list item, but to elevate themselves in empowering ways.

Planning a wedding has come far from the traditional ceremony in the church. The sacred commemoration has evolved to become about the experience, enjoyment, and celebration which has led to so many creative and inspiring weddings.

It’s no wonder that couples have sought the sky as the stage for their wedding, and we’ve been honored to host and be a part of these special events right here in Missouri! We are loving the new traditions of gender reveals! At Skydive St. Louis, we’ve embraced this tradition and now have a pink and blue parachute we use for our tandem skydivers who want to take their reveal to the next level! Skydiving has always attracted people from all walks of life. It’s a sport where barriers and stigmas are dropped and a culture of brother/sisterhood is embodied. Skydiving is becoming a more mainstream sport as people are more aware of it, see it in the news and of course, social media. Once people try it, that nervous, fear-of-the-unknown feeling crumbles, and something inside us shifts.

In this journey, we’ve had the honor of meeting people coming to this sport to conquer various life challenges using skydiving as their vehicle to experience that shift. Here are some highlights of our profiles of courage and be warned – they are packed with all the feels!

What is it about skydiving that attracts people? The anxiety and nervousness are enough to drive most people away. But it’s also that, “Feel the fear and do it anyway,” or that “life begins on the other side of your comfort zone,” that people are ready to crush it. Skydiving has become a platform for people to take the big leap and cross an item off their bucket list, fears, conquer life and/or celebrate.
