5 Things You’ll Love About Skydiving

We think skydiving is the greatest thing in the world. And we hope you’ll agree! Here are 5 things we think you’ll love about skydiving.
1) Skydiving makes you really happy!
One of the best things about skydiving is that it makes you really happy!
Jumping out of an airplane is an incredible experience. There’s really nothing like that moment when you step out into freefall and feel the wind in your face. With so much happening and so much adrenaline rushing through your system, you’ll forget about your worries and concerns and be left with a completely clear mind, focused only on the here and now.
It’s that rush of adrenaline that kick starts the production of serotonin, too – that’s our body’s ‘happy’ hormone. You’ll find yourself smiling all day long after your skydive.
2) You’ll feel what it’s like to really fly
Ask anyone what superpower they’d choose to have and a large number will say ‘flying’. It’s a dream we all had as kids and we’ll bet you never thought it would be possible to actually do it!
Skydiving makes it possible for you to fly and to make that dream come true. Something people don’t often realize before they jump is the amount of control we have over our bodies and our movements in freefall. We can turn, move back and forward, fly over and under one another and propel ourselves across the sky using the basic principles of aerodynamics.
There’s a saying that ‘only skydivers know why birds sing’… come and find out why!
3) You’ll see the world from a unique perspective
Another thing you’ll love about skydiving is the unique views we get from 10,000 feet up.
It’s one thing to see the ground from a commercial aircraft through those tiny round windows – quite another to see it as it rushes toward you in its full glory below!
We’re really lucky here in Sullivan to have gorgeous views over the beautiful Meramec River and the St. Louis countryside. The only people who’ve seen the area from our unique perspective are people who’ve skydived with us – which, when you think about it, is very cool indeed!
4) You’ll be part of a global skydiving community
Skydiving is one of those sports that attracts a whole variety of different people. We all come from different backgrounds, different jobs, different places, with one purpose; to jump!
It’s a sport that blurs our differences so they simply don’t matter anymore. You’ll find a cross section of society at the drop zone; people of 20 years old jump with people of 60 years old and the generation gap just isn’t a ‘thing’. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, what you do, how much you earn… in skydiving, it’s just about having an amazing time with amazing people.
It’s a community that spans the globe. The USPA (United States Parachute Association) has thousands of members who regularly skydive across the US. Then there are skydiving centers and parachute associations all across the world, and you’ll be welcomed wholeheartedly to every single one of them if you wish.
5) It’s incredibly empowering
When you skydive, it’s likely you’ve overcoming personal challenges. Perhaps you’re a bit scared before you do it. Perhaps you’re nervous of the unknown. Maybe you’re totally hyped about your jump and your biggest challenge is staying calm!
Whatever your reasons for jumping or the challenges you overcome on your way, skydiving is incredibly empowering. When you think back on what you’ve done, and when you consider that only a small proportion of the population have done it, you’ll feel like you can do anything you set your mind to.
